Elysium Health is company making evidence-based dietary supplements. The company was founded in 2014 by Dr. Leonard Guarente, Eric Marcotulli, and Dan Alminana. The mission of the company is to solve the biggest challenges in health with science, to help people live healthier for longer. It does so by translating advances in science and technology into clinically-validated health products that work and collaborating with world-class scientists.
Dr. Leonard Guarente, in addition to being the chief scientist of Elysium Health, serves as the director of the Glenn Center for Biology of Aging Research at MIT. He has conducted significant research into the genetic and molecular causes of aging during his long career.
Not all supplements are as good as they are advertised to be. In order to change that, the best thing to do is to buy products from more genuine companies. Founded on the idea of bringing effective products through rigorous research to the supplement industry, Elysium Health ensures that its products undergo quality and purity testing and clinical trials.
Aging at the Level of the Cell
Basis is a daily supplement created by Elysium Health. When Basis is taken on a daily basis, it increases levels of NAD+. NAD+ is essential to hundreds of our cellular functions, including circadian rhythms, energy creation, and maintaining DNA health. Our levels of NAD+ decline naturally as we age. Basis increases and sustains higher NAD+ levels and supports our cellular health. This can be especially helpful to older populations, for whom NAD+ levels likely to be at their lowest.
Dr. Guarente’s experience as a biologist cemented his confidence that NAD+ was a key chemical compound in the body. That is why he founded Elysium Health and helped create the health supplement Basis.
Get to Know Basis in Detail
To back up the company’s claims, Elysium Health put Basis through a clinical trial in 2016. The trial involved 120 subjects, who were divided into three groups. Group one took two capsules of Basis, which is the recommended daily dose of the supplement. Group two took four capsules of the supplement, which is double the recommended daily dose of Basis. Group three took a placebo. Those who took the recommended dose of Basis during the trial had their NAD+ levels rise by an average of 40 percent and remain there for the duration of the trial. The results of the trial were published in November 2017 in the peer-reviewed journal Nature Partner Journals: Aging and Mechanisms of Disease.
If you would like to include Basis in your daily routine, visit Elysium Health’s website. The company sells Basis in a variety of monthly subscriptions, as well as in individual jars. Each jar contains 60 capsules (the recommended daily intake is two capsules). You can buy a single jar of Basis for $60, but choosing a monthly delivery offers significant savings.
Basis is a vegan, vegetarian, gluten- and nut- free supplement. That allows you to stick to your diet and avoid any related food allergies.
