Making It As A Creative W/ Rina Sawayama, Charlie Kwai & Charlotte Jansen
“For creatives, no is a really scary thing to say, but there is huge power in saying no.” Rina Sawayama
It was exactly this time last year, one night before the U.K. voted on Brexit that we welcomed three major emerging talents in the cultural world for our first Fresh Faces event. Makeup artist Isamaya French, photographer Maisie Cousins and digital editor of Dazed Thomas Gorton. The vote to a changed Britain certainly hasn’t affected the careers of those artists.
One year on Fresh Faces returned to London’s Second Home, introducing you to three fine new talents from modeling and music to art, photography, and media, including musician Rina Sawayama, author and Editor-at-Large of cultural bible Elephant magazine Charlotte Jansen and street photographer Charlie Kwai.
Each carving out their own unique path in the creative world, they joined us for an informed and topical discussion about the harsh realities of today’s creative industries and how artists can respond to the disruption we see in the world. We pick up the conversation where Charlotte Jansen explained how she got started in the business.
