From Monument Valley to Uncanny Valley
Since the last time we spoke with Ustwo’s gaming director Neil McFarland, the company have been betting big on Virtual Reality. From the creators of the worldwide hit game Monument Valley, Land’s End, is their first VR adventure. Set against spectacular landscapes, the player is tasked with awakening an ancient civilisation using only the powers of their mind. Land’s End combines Ustwo Games’ award-winning approach to interactive storytelling with Samsung GearVR. We checked in with Neil to find out what it was all about.
“When we started work on Land’s End it was planned as a project driven by passion and a desire to experiment. But the further we delved into our research the more excited we became. Each challenge we faced was about tackling something in pursuit of creating a comfortable and elegant VR experience. This made us certain that we could bring something meaningful to this new entertainment space. We began to understand we were in a position to dictate the future of the platform, to lay out our vision for what this experience could become. It’s not often we are given the chance to shape the future of the medium but Land’s End has hopefully done that for us. ”
