Trailer: Dave Eggers – The Circle (Starring Emma Watson)

The debut trailer for the tech industry focused The Circle finally sees the light of the day. Based around the book by the same name written by best selling author Dave Eggers, The Circle follows a young innocent Mae Holland, played by Emma Watson, as a new employee at a Google-like corporation. What seems on the outside a standard Silicon valley styled company develops into a maze like plot full of intrigue and terror. Tom Hanks plays the all knowing and all seeing Steve Jobs-esque CEO.

When the book was released back in 2013 it attracted a lot of criticism from the tech community for its purported negative portrayal of the Silicon Valley community. It will be interesting to see if the film provokes the same response or if Hollywood has smoothed over some of the story’s more contentious themes.
